Every custom training program is created with a specific goal in mind. Most of the time, it is the acquisition of something new that will bring about an improvement in the lives of the learner. Whether that is an improvement in the professional or personal life of the learner, it is something that will definitely make them more productive.
One thing that you can aim for when you are creating a training program is to encourage a positive attitude in your learners. It is a great trait to have because it results in a stronger, determined and confident individual. Having a positive attitude will benefit your learners in both their professional and personal lives.
The question is, how can you create a custom training program that will result in learners having a positive attitude? Here are tips that you can use while creating your training program.
- Make your learners feel empowered. It is believed by many that the key to having a positive attitude is to empower people. Make sure you do not concentrate too much on the delivery of the content. You need to ensure that it will be done in such a way that will appeal to the human element of your learners. They need to feel like they are in control of the course. You can do this by creating a learner-centered course. Find out what their interests are and you can tap into that throughout the course. This will motivate them to actively participate during the learning process.
- Point out the relevance of the course. Another thing that you can do to encourage a positive attitude in your learners is to clearly indicate the relevance of the course. Make sure that the learners know how your custom training program can benefit them. The participants will develop a positive outlook as they approach the elearning course that you have created for them. You have to give them a reason to want to learn what you are offering them.
- Only have constructive feedback. If people are given constructive criticisms, they will not be afraid to make mistakes. They will be encouraged to do better instead of halting their efforts. You need to give them the desire to learn without making them fear failure. This will allow them to feel more confident when it comes to learning. It will translate into a positive attitude both in their professional and personal lives. Despite the risk of failure they will learn how to keep on moving forward.
- Provide learners with resources outside the training course. Encourage them to pursue learning beyond the custom training program that you created. Instill in them the need to learn even after the program is over. Developing their sense of initiative will allow them to continually improve themselves – even without urging from anyone.
- Challenge your learners. Boredom is the enemy of a positive attitude. That being said, you want to make sure that you will give them the right amount of challenge in your custom training course. Just make sure that it will not be overwhelming that they will be unable to overcome that challenge. Know what the learners are capable of but do not underestimate what they can accomplish on their own.
Follow these tips and you should be able to create a custom training program that will not only improve the knowledge and skills of the participants. It will also result in a more positive workforce.
